His mother, Mira Merovech, is Mariwig Merovech’s youngest sibling.  Born and raised as a Krievija, Bohdan was orphaned at fourteen.

Without riches and destitute, he led several hundred of his father’s men to his maternal uncle. Merovech, who valued the boy’s leadership and talent, took in his nephew as his ward.
